About Dr. Duhning

Dr. Duhning is a licensed Psychologist in the State of New York with a doctoral degree in School Psychology from St. John’s University. She is nationally certified in School Psychology and holds board certification in School Neuropsychology, with a specialization in school-focused neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Duhning has extensive experience working within the school settings, giving her a strong understanding of special education services, including IEPs, 504 Plans, and the referral and support process. Her background allows her to bridge the gap between neuropsychological testing and educational services, helping families navigate the school system and advocate effectively for their child’s needs. Dr. Duhning specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of a range of conditions that impact learning and development including, but not limited to, A-D/HD, learning disabilities (i.e., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), executive functioning challenges, and anxiety/mood disorders. Her assessments are comprehensive, practical, and always focused on helping children thrive both in and out of the classroom.

In addition to her assessment work, Dr. Duhning specializes in evidence-based therapies for children, teens, and young adults struggling with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), emetophobia (fear of vomiting), depression, and body-focused repetitive behaviors such as skin picking (excoriation disorder). Her approach is evidence-based, compassionate, and collaborative, helping clients build skills, reduce distress, and regain a sense of calm and confidence in their everyday lives.

She previously held appointments as an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University (LIU) and St. Joseph’s University, where she taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is currently a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), APA Division 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology), the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology, CHADD (the Long Island Professionals ADHD Consortium), and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
