Hi, I’m Monet Goode.
Meet Dr. Courtney Duhning
Dr. Courtney Duhning is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist, licensed psychologist in New York, and nationally certified school psychologist specializing in the evaluation of children and adolescents.
She is the founder of Duhning Psychological Services, a private practice on Long Island focused on comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children and teens with concerns related to attention, learning differences (including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia), executive functioning, anxiety, and emotional regulation.
Dr. Duhning is known for her thoughtful, individualized approach and her ability to translate complex clinical findings into clear, practical recommendations that families can confidently use at home and within the school setting.
Her work is particularly focused on children who are bright but struggling — including those with ADHD, learning differences, anxiety disorders, OCD, and executive functioning challenges. In addition to evaluation, she has advanced training in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), particularly for OCD and specific phobias such as emetophobia.
Dr. Duhning brings extensive experience from within the school system, having worked as a practicing school psychologist. She has collaborated closely with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams, and has chaired both CSE and 504 meetings. This background allows her to provide families with meaningful guidance and the language needed to effectively advocate for appropriate school-based supports.
She has also served as an adjunct professor and assessment supervisor, teaching graduate-level coursework in psychological and psychoeducational assessment and training future clinicians in test administration and interpretation.
Dr. Duhning has contributed to research and professional publications in the areas of cognitive behavioral therapy, school-based mental health, and neuropsychological assessment, and has presented her work at professional conferences.
She earned her Doctorate in School Psychology (Psy.D.) from St. John’s University and completed advanced post-graduate training in school neuropsychology. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and maintains active involvement in professional organizations, including the National Association of School Psychologists and the International Neuropsychological Society.
